Each of us have probably made, kept, or broken a promise. We know the joy of promises fulfilled and the agony of promises shattered. One aspect of human nature is people let people down. He fulfills completely all He has set forth in His divine plan. Simon Peter, the bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, opens his second epistle with a greeting that reminds all who read it that God gives “precious” promises:
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:2-4 Read the rest of this entry »
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Yes! It’s that time of year. The days are getting colder and the malls are getting crowded. The stores actually started Christmas just after Halloween. People, by now, are in full Christmas spirit. It is also the time of year that we can forget the most important things in life: family, faith, friendship, etc. I often like to ask people what they enjoy most about the Christmas season. The answers are as varied as the people themselves. In addition, I like to ask people about their favorite Christmas verse from the Bible.
